All land owners/shareholders can avail the Bengal Crop Insurance Scheme. According to this scheme, applicants will get insurance coverage only if there is crop damage, so the beneficiary has to submit the required documents including proper proof of damage and land ownership to the authorities.
Shasya Bima Yojana is a scheme to provide crop protection to farmers in the state of West Bengal. To protect farmers from financial problems in case of crop failure, the West Bengal State Government has launched the ‘Bangla Garana Bima Yojana’ scheme. Under this scheme, the government will pay the crop premium to the farmers.
What is Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana?
Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana is created to help the farmers of the WB state. The main purpose of launching this scheme is to provide crop insurance coverage to the farmers, and especially for the Kharif season crops. This scheme will be overseen by the Agriculture Department of the West Bengal state. Bangla Shasya Bima Yojana will surely help those farmers who are going through financial poverty due to the scenarios currently prevailing in the country, and this scheme will be available for farmers from the economically weaker sections.

Eligibility criteria
- The farmer must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- All land owners/shareholders can avail the Bengal Crop Insurance Scheme.
- As per the scheme, applicants will get insurance coverage only in case of crop loss, the beneficiary has to submit the required documents including proper proof of loss and land ownership to the authorities.
Benefits of Bangla Shasya bima
- The premium contribution of farmers has been reduced substantially i.e. 2% for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi crops and 5% for annual and commercial crops.
- Provision for individual assessment of damage in case of localized hazards like hailstorm, flood and landslides.
- Loss of harvested crops due to cyclones, cyclonic rains and untimely rains across the country was measured on the basis of yield loss per plot which was left under ‘cut and spread’ cultivation for a period of maximum two weeks (14 days) for drying.
- Payment of claims through farmers account in case of interruption in planting and localized damage.
- Use of technology will be encouraged to an extraordinary extent under this scheme. Smartphones will be used to capture and upload crop data to reduce delay in claim payments to farmers. Remote sensing will be used to reduce the number of cutting experiments under this scheme.

- First of all, you have to find out your application ID to know the status of the scheme application.
