What is Raithu Runa Mafi?
The Telangana government has launched the Raithu Runa Mafi scheme for farmers facing debt of up to Rs 2 lakh by 2024. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has officially launched the first phase of loan waiver for loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh in Hyderabad on July 18, 2024.
According to the report released by the government, loans of about 11 lakh farmers have been waived in the first phase and the government has released loan amount of Rs 6,098 crore, and now, the CM has launched the second phase on July 30, 2024, in which loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh of eligible farmers will be waived.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be natives of Telangana and their primary occupation should be farming.
- Candidates must have availed short term loans from branches of Regional Rural Banks, Scheduled Commercial Banks and District Cooperative Banks.
- The loan was sanctioned or renewed on or after December 12, 2018 and the crop loan was outstanding as on December 09, 2003.

The main objective of introducing Rythu Runa Mafi is to help the farmers of Telangana state by waiving off their outstanding loans. With the help of this scheme, the state government will raise the social status and living standards of all the financially unstable farmers of Telangana state. According to the state government, every bank has to appoint a bank nodal officer to implement this scheme.
